Mushfiqur Rahim fell through a reckless shot to the debutant, Sonal Dinusha. Mehidy Hasan Miraz was batting well but he edged one down to first slip which made things worse for the visitors. Nayeem Hasan was their last known lower order batter but he too fell in the final minutes of the play. Bangladesh have just two wickets in hand and Sri Lanka will be eager to turn it up and carry over the momentum. A promising start to the game. That is all from Day 1's action. The second session was a rain-affected session, that saw only 23 overs bowled. Sri Lanka tightened their grip by picking up three key wickets, leaving Bangladesh in a spot of bother at 144 for 5. Shanto and Shadman fell early, while Litton Das, despite a couple of lives, was dismissed by debutant Sonal Dinusha. Mushfiqur Rahim remained unbeaten on 34 alongside Mehidy Hasan Miraz as Bangladesh looked to rebuild in the final session.

A day that belonged to the Lankans! The first session was somewhat evenly poised as Bangladesh were 71/2. Sri Lanka’s pacers started strong and took an early wicket. Then, Bangladesh’s batters Shadman Islam and Mominul Haque played carefully and tried to settle. Mominul got out soon after, but Shadman and Najmul Hossain Shanto kept batting steadily. There were a couple of close moments, but overall, it was a balanced session.

There are still around 10 overs of play remaining but the light is not good enough to continue! Sri Lanka leave the field with noses in front. What a day for the hosts. Both teams wanted to bat first but only one have made justice to the decision. Bangladesh will feel disappointed with how they have batted. The reckless shots they have attempted which resulted only in wickets. Hopefully, it won't come back to haunt them as this is a really good pitch to bat on and 220/8 on Day 1 doesn't replicate that at all.
