Stephen Bunting responds to fans' pleas to change walk-on song in Premier League

star has responded to claims that he should change his walk-on song as the heads to Liverpool this evening (Thursday). The 40-year-old has made it no secret that he is excited about heading to his home city for the event.

He last competed in the Premier League in Liverpool 10 years ago, when he was emphatically beaten by Phil Taylor, and he will be hoping to make amends at the M&S Bank Arena.

There have been calls for the Liverpudlian to alter his walk-out for his 'homecoming' to pay tribute to the local area, but Bunting insists that no such changes are in the pipeline. He tweeted on X: "Not as if I've been counting but after 92 sleeps since the fixtures were announced the day has finally arrived.

"So many of you have suggested that I change my walk-on song just for tonight. I can confirm that isn't going to happen, but if I did, it would have been Jamie Webster and This Place just for these lyrics - 'My city, my people, my heart'. (Raise your glass to this place)."

Bunting's walk-out song of 'Titanium' by David Guetta and Sia is expected to ring around Liverpool when he takes to the stage for the quarter-finals to face Rob Cross, who is still without a Premier League win this season.

Bunting endured a slow start to the Premier League and was forced to battle through an eight-week winless run but finally broke his duck last month and he will be hoping that a return to Liverpool sees him progress further as he makes a late charge for a play-off spot.

Speaking about the experience he gained from his last defeat in his home city, Bunting told : "As soon as the Premier League was announced, and I was in, I was then looking for the fixture straight away for Liverpool. That was the massive one.

"From my experience 10 years ago, I took a lot away from that. Playing Phil Taylor on the biggest stage in my career at the time in Liverpool was a massive game for me, and I definitely put too much pressure on myself.

"I remember the night being so nervous and the result didn't go my way. In fact, I got absolutely hammered. I've learnt a lot."
