Google is expanding its “Help me write” feature on Gmail , now available for users on the web. This enhanced AI tool , powered by Gemini AI , will enable users to refine their email drafts directly from a blank canvas, making daily email tasks more efficient and customizable.
Now, users subscribed to Google One AI Premium or those with the Gemini add-on for Google Workspace can access this feature. Upon opening a new draft, a prompt to activate “Help me write” appears, allowing users to initiate Gemini’s assistance in drafting and refining messages.
In addition to drafting, this feature offers several options to customize emails, including elaborating on ideas, shortening content, or adjusting the tone to sound more formal. The new toolset also introduces a “polish” shortcut, appearing on emails with over 12 words. On the web, users can refine their messages by selecting this option or using the CTRL+H shortcut.
Mobile users will find the “Polish” feature under a shortcut named “Refine my draft.” Swiping on this option prompts Gemini to enhance the message with various editing tools. This additional functionality allows for convenient AI-assisted edits on mobile devices.
Google’s official blog announced that Gemini's new features for Workspace would be enabled by default, requiring no configuration changes from admins or users. The Help Center will provide additional resources for users to explore these AI tools.
The gradual rollout for Gmail on the web began on October 28, complementing its availability on Android and iOS. These features are accessible to users with Gemini’s Business, Enterprise, Education, Education Premium, and Google One AI subscriptions.
