During Diwali celebrations in Delhi’s Shahdara area, a tragic firing incident led to the deaths of two individuals, including a teenager, and injured a young boy. This shocking event, occurring in the Bihari Colony on Thursday, was caught on CCTV, according to police reports.

Authorities identified the victims as 40-year-old Akash and his 16-year-old nephew, Rishab. Akash’s 10-year-old son, Krish, sustained injuries in the shooting.

Suspect Detained , Motive Under Investigation
Police detained a minor in connection with the incident after reviewing CCTV footage. Preliminary findings suggest that personal enmity might have been the motive behind the shooting, with five rounds fired at the victims.

“Around 8:30 p.m., we received a PCR call about a firing in Bihari Colony. On reaching the scene, we found that Akash, his nephew Rishab, and his son Krish had been shot. Unfortunately, Akash and Rishab succumbed to their injuries. Five rounds of bullets were fired," shared DCP Shahdara Prashant Gautam.

Family Members Recall the Disturbing Events
Akash’s mother recounted that a man named Lakshay had been visiting their home over the past few days. On Diwali, he arrived with a box of sweets and just as Akash was preparing firecrackers outside, gunshots were fired.

“A man named Lakshay had been coming around our lane for several days. On Diwali, he brought sweets to our home. While my son was setting up firecrackers outside, I suddenly heard shots. When I looked, my son was shot,” she recalled.

Yogesh, Akash’s brother and Rishab’s father, mentioned a financial dispute involving Akash, which could have led to the attack.

“The incident happened between 7:30 and 8:00 p.m. yesterday. My brother and nephew were killed by the person on a two-wheeler who had approached them. My brother had an ongoing dispute over money with someone,” he said.

Police are continuing their investigation into the motive behind the attack and the involvement of other individuals.
