Ukraine nervous if it's asking for Tomahawk: Russia

Send Push
MOSCOW: The Kremlin said on Thursday that Ukraine's leadership was clearly nervous about Russian advances along the front line if Kyiv was asking the United States to supply it with long-range Tomahawk missiles.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed annoyance that details of requests he made to the White House for more US long-range missiles were leaked to the media. Reports about Ukraine requesting "a lot of missiles, like Tomahawks" appeared around the time he sought to persuade partners to support Ukraine's 'victory plan', Zelensky said at a meeting with journalists from Nordic countries on Tuesday.

Zelensky asked the US for Tomahawk missiles as part of "non-nuclear deterrence package", the NYT reported Tuesday, citing a senior US official who called the request "totally unfeasible".

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the trend on the frontlines, where Russia has advanced in the past three months, was clear. "The Kyiv regime is beginning to show considerable nervousness," he said, adding "Ukraine's plans boil down to dragging Western nations into the war up to their ears and legitimising it".
