TOI correspondent from Washington: A group representing an unnamed sculptor has placed a poop emoji representing a pile of excreta in front of the US Capitol . The turd front could be a metaphor for the copulatory and fecal verbs and nouns that has been used, mostly by the Trump campaign in the most toxic US presidential elections in history.
Placed on a desk, the pile of poop slightly larger than a soccer ball has a satirical inscription that reads, "This memorial honors the brave men and women who broke into the United States Capitol on January 6th, 2021 to loot, urinate, and defecate throughout those hallowed halls in order to overturn an election."
"President Trump celebrates these heroes of January 6th as 'unbelievable patriots' and 'warriors.' This monument stands as a testament to their daring sacrifice and lasting legacy," the sign says.
The National Park Service which oversees the area said a group called Civic Crafted LLC filed for a permit to place the "memorial" for a week. It comes amid a fetid political discourse that includes use of expletives such as fuck, shit, pimp etc. The latest buzz word is the relatively mild garbage.
