Blink and it's gone: China unveils world's fastest train; CR450 hits 453 km/h

A video posted online by the Chinese Embassy in the US has gone viral, unveiling the nation's new CR450 bullet train, which has set a new world record for speed.

The clip, which has drawn a lot of attention, introduces the train as "China's CR450 — the world's fastest train!" and notes its top speed of 450 km/h and an operating speed of 400 km/h.

During pre-service testing, the train surpassed its announced top speed, hitting an astounding 453 km/h on the high-speed track between Shanghai and Chengdu. This performance signals a major step forward; the CR450 can get up to 350 km/h in just 4 minutes and 40 seconds, a full 100 seconds quicker than the previous CR400 Fuxing model.
