Indian whiskies are ruling the world of awards. And it was proven again when four of the fiver slots were taken by Indian whiskies at the Las Vegas Global Spirits Awards 2025. Indian single malt brand Indri's Diwali Collector's Edition 2025 Marsala Cask Finish was named 'Best World Whisky' at the Awards with an exceptional score of 99.1 out of 100.

Produced by Piccadily Distilleries in Indri, Haryana, the limited-edition whisky is crafted from six-row Indian barley and matured in Marsala wine casks. For context, Marsala is a fortified wine from Sicily, Italy, known for its sweet, nutty complexity - a flavour profile that influences the whisky's rich and layered finish.

As per reports, it is bottled at cask strength (60% ABV), and offers notes of stewed apricots, cherries and plums, along with hints of nutty spice, vanilla and honeyed caramel on the nose. The palate is full-bodied, revealing red berries, chocolate, nutmeg and walnuts, underlined by earthy undertones. The finish is long and lingering notes of wood spices, orange oils, almond brittle and a dry wine, slightly tannic note.

The awards also featured the GianChand single malt range, which is named after the founder and matured in Jammu’s hot summers and cold winters. The whisky is a peated single malt fashioned from 100% Indian barley. It gained 99 points out of 100. The whisky features a wet stone minerally and saline/salty aromas, along with notes of subtle medicinal peat, lemon oil, sandalwood and oak spices.

And with 96 points, Distillery Krauss, Sulm Valley Whiskey 5 Years Old also made it to the top 5. This whisky is a bourbon-style, Austrian straight whiskey, produced from a mash of ~70% local Sulm Valley corn. It’s matured in newly toasted American oak. It has aromas of sweet corn, stone fruits, banana chips and vanilla, with hints of waxy and leather notes.

For the unversed, the Las Vegas Global Spirits Awards (LVGSA) is a U.S.-based independent competition that uses blind tastings to assess entries from across the world. Each spirit is judged by a panel of industry experts, including distillers, bartenders, buyers, and educators, and is evaluated on appearance, aroma, palate, balance, and finish.Entries are flighted by style and assessed on a 100-point framework for appearance, aroma, palate, balance and finish.
