NEW DELHI: The Chandigarh District Court has issued an interim order preventing Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia from making defamatory statements on Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann’s officer on special duty (OSD), Rajbir Singh , across any public platform.
The Punjab chief minister’s office (CMO) confirmed this directive.
The case arose after Majithia made public allegations against Rajbir Singh, including claims about his family's Canadian citizenship and accusations of transferring large sums of money to Canada and Australia through illegal channels .
Earlier this month, Majithia had called on the central government to issue a look-out circular (LOC) against Singh, implying that he might attempt to flee the country, according to media reports.
In response, Rajbir Singh issued a legal notice to Majithia, demanding a written apology within 48 hours and seeking compensation for reputational and mental harm.
