NEW DELHI: Centre on Wednesday extended the tenure of Defence Staff Gen Anil Chauhan till May 30 2026.
" Government has approved the extension of service of General Anil Chauhan as Chief of Defence Staff & Secretary, department of military affairs, upto 30th May 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier," ministry of defence said.
"Commissioned in 1981, Gen Chauhan has had a distinguished career with key command & staff appointments. Decorated with PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM & VSM, he has been serving as CDS since 30th Sept 2022," it added.
Gen Chauhan's current stint as the top military officer is scheduled to end on September 30.
He has been serving as the Chief of Defence Staff since September 30, 2022.
