Kottayam: Renowned writer N S Madhavan was chosen for this year's Ezhuthachan Puraskaram, the top prize instituted by the state govt. The award was announced by cultural minister Saji Cherian here on Friday. It includes a cash prize of Rs five lakh, a citation, and a plaque. He was selected by a panel comprising S K Vasanthan as chairman, and T K Narayanan and Muse Mary George as members, with C P Aboobacker as member secretary.
He is known for his novel Lanthan Batheriyile Luthiniyakal and short stories such as Higuita, Thiruthu, Choolaimedile Shavangal, and Vanmarangal Veezhumpol. He is a recipient of the Kerala Sahitya Akademi, Odakkuzhal, and Padmaprabha awards.
