NEW DELHI: The BJP, which was voted into office in the Delhi assembly poll held in February, spent over Rs 57.6 crore on its election campaign, way above the Rs 46.2 expenses crore run up by the Congress and Rs 14.5 crore incurred by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
According to the expenditure statements filed by the three parties with the Election Commission, the BJP’s total receipts during the election period totalled Rs 88.7 crore, against the Congress’s Rs 67.1 crore and AAP’s Rs 16.1 crore.
While the BJP cornered 48 of the state’s 70 assembly seats, the erstwhile AAP government was voted out of office with a tally of a mere 22 seats. The Congress had yet again drawn a blank in the February 2025 Delhi polls.
According to BJP’s expenditure report submitted to the EC, the party spent Rs 39.1 crore on general party propaganda, while Rs 18.5 crore went to the candidates. AAP spent Rs 12.1 crore on general party propaganda and Rs 2.4 crore on candidates.
A break-up of the Congress's poll expenditure shows a Rs 40.1 crore spend on general party propaganda and another Rs 6.06 crore on party candidates.
