Nagpur: A tragic accident claimed the life of a 26-year-old labourer who fell while painting a residential building, highlighting the risks in unregulated construction jobs. Kamlesh Somkuwar, hailing from Samta Nagar in Jaripatka, was perched on a makeshift swing to paint a two-storey building when he lost his balance.
The fall caused severe injury to his head and torso, leading to his urgent transfer to Mayo Hospital. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to the wounds.
Authorities have initiated a probe into the accidental fatality, with Mankapur police station sub-inspector Pranjali Ambedkar overseeing the case. Preliminary findings point to a lack of safety gear as a potential factor. Experts call for mandatory harnesses and training in such tasks to avert similar accidents.
