Google Chrome adds pop-up notifications for copying links and images on desktop

Send Push
Desktop users of Google Chrome can now expect a new visual cue when copying links and images. The latest update to Chrome 130 introduces "toast" messages, a small, temporary notification that appears at the top of the screen to confirm your action.

These toast messages resemble pop-up notifications commonly found on mobile apps. In the case of Chrome, they'll display a message like "Link copied" or "Image copied" when you successfully copy a link or image from a website. The message appears briefly before disappearing automatically.

While seemingly minor, this new feature aims to enhance the user experience by providing instant visual feedback. It eliminates the need to switch tabs or visually confirm successful copying, especially on large screens with complex webpages.

Currently, toast notifications appear only when copying links and images. There's no confirmation for copying plain text. However, Chrome Canary users can access experimental flags to control the duration of these notifications (eight, ten, or twelve seconds).

The new toast messages were first spotted on Chrome 130 for Mac, with an expected rollout for Windows and ChromeOS users in the near future.
