With the 2025 MLB season in full swing, the Toronto Blue Jays are met with one of the biggest setbacks. After being defeated by the Baltimore Orioles, Blue Jays’ right-handed pitcher Max Scherzer has been shifted to a 15-day injured list. Mad Max, as he is popularly known, struggled with inflammation in his right thumb. The significant roster moves by the Blue Jays have not only diverted the cameras toward them but also left their fans devastated.
Max Scherzer is listed on the 15-day injured list due to thumb inflammationThe 40-year-old Toronto Blue Jays’ talented pitcher has been troubled with his thumb from the spring training days, but after the opening day game with the Baltimore Orioles, Max Scherzer is not in a position to neglect the inflammation on his right thumb. Reportedly, he has been put on a 15-day-long injured list. The three-time Cy Young Award recipient would be visiting a hand specialist along with the Blue Jays manager, John Schneider. While talking about Scherzer’s persistent thumb issue, Schneider said-

“Hopefully this kind of resets him and knocks it out. We obviously need him. Elite pitcher, and we want him to feel his best.”

With the exit of Max Scherzer, the Toronto Blue Jays have shuffled the team roster. Blue Jays announced it via a post on X and listed all the changes, which mentioned-

“ROSTER MOVES: RHP Max Scherzer (right thumb inflammation) was placed on 15-day IL; LHP Easton Lucas was recalled from Triple-A and will be active for today’s game.”

Following a 9-5 defeat by the Baltimore Orioles, Max Scherzer highlighted his consistent thumb issue and even admitted that he was already frustrated with it. He said-

“This thumb is absolutely critical to your arm health. I’ve got to get this 100% before I pitch again.”

Max Scherzer had signed a $15.5 million contract with the Toronto Blue Jays for the 2025 MLB season prior to spring training. This is not the first time he has been down with an injury during the season, as during the 2024 MLB season he started his stint with the Texas Rangers while recovering from his lower back surgery.
