NEW DELHI: Seasoned left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja on Friday surged ahead of the iconic pace duo of Zaheer Khan and Ishant Sharma to become India’s fifth-highest wicket-taker in Test cricket .

On a dramatic opening day of the third Test against New Zealand , where momentum shifted frequently, Jadeja's consistent performance stood out. He delivered a stellar five-wicket haul, conceding just 65 runs in his 22 overs, maintaining an impressive economy rate of 3.00.


Following his exceptional spell that left New Zealand's batsmen baffled, Jadeja climbed the ranks, now boasting 314 wickets in the longest format. With 314 wickets so far, Jadeja is now behind Harbhajan Singh (417 wickets) in the all-time list

During the second session, Jadeja made a significant impact by dismissing Will Young, Tom Blundell, and Glenn Phillips, propelling him up the list of India’s highest wicket-takers.

He continued his impressive form by taking the wickets of Ish Sodhi and Matt Henry, ultimately achieving his 14th five-wicket haul in Test cricket.

Jadeja’s remarkable performance played a crucial role in dismantling New Zealand's batting lineup, showcasing his skill and consistency as a leading spinner for the Indian team.
