Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has been sacked by the company, AFP news agency confirmed on Wednesday. While the exact reason for his departure has not been officially confirmed by the team, the move comes more than a year after a Red Bull employee filed a misconduct complaint against him. Racing Bulls boss Laurent Mekies has been promoted to Red Bull team principal as his replacement.

With his tireless commitment, experience, expertise, and innovative thinking, he has been instrumental in establishing Red Bull Racing as one of the most successful and attractive teams in Formula 1 . Earlier, a Daily Mail report claimed that Red Bull owner Mark Mateschitz, the son of late co-founder Dietrich Mateschitz, was considering Horner’s removal, as the latter had amassed significant influence within the company following Mateschitz’s death in 2022. The report also stated that Horner had retained his role thanks to the support of Red Bull's Thai co-owner Chalerm Yoovidhya, the co-founder and 51% owner of Red Bull’s parent company.
