Max Verstappen has clinched his first victory of the season at the Japanese Grand Prix, and now there is only good news for him on the calendar. The Red Bull driver is all set to become a father to his first child with his girlfriend Kelly Piquet . He is already a doting father to Kelly’s five-year-old daughter from her earlier relationship. According to the latest revelation made by Helmut Marko , Kelly is due to give birth around the time of the Miami Grand Prix , scheduled for 2 to 4 May.
Max Verstappen’s race schedule may not clash with birth of his childAccording to a report in the Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung, Kelly Piquet’s due date is 6 May. It also quoted Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko saying, “The date of birth does not overlap with any of Max’s racing activities and is scheduled for early May.” This indicates Max Verstappen’s child will possibly be born two days after the Miami Grand Prix.
If the child doesn’t arrive a few days early, Verstappen will have a one-and-a-half-week break around the birth of his child, as the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix in Italy is scheduled for 16–18 May. And if Kelly delivers much earlier than her due date, Verstappen could be home after the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in Jeddah, which concludes on 20 April.
Will Max Verstappen miss a race for the birth of his child?Verstappen had earlier told Dutch publication Algemeen Dagblad that he wouldn’t miss a race if his child arrives on a race day. He had said, “This is just part of being a Formula 1 driver. If it happens, it happens. I can’t do anything about it. Unfortunately, Formula 1 drivers don’t get any free time, but at the same time, I’m not the one who gives birth. Anything is possible, but in Formula 1 that doesn’t exist. You can’t take two months off.”

Recently, Kelly Piquet shared a ton of pictures from her baby shower. Verstappen couldn’t attend but showered her post with heart emojis. Some fans also speculated that Kelly is expecting a girl, but she chose to hide the gender announcement in the post. Interestingly, Max and Kelly’s couple portrait featured on the candies at the function.
