Deandre Ayton hyped to Los Angeles Lakers' jersey, melts fans' hearts: “That Purple & Gold, Baby"

Deandre Ayton is now a Los Angeles Lakers . The former Phoenix Suns star couldn't contain his excitement about his start with the Lakers. He shared a bunch of pictures from his first day at the Lakers’ camp on his Instagram account. Lakers also shared moments from his introductory session on their Instagram handle. In a video shared by the Lakers on their Instagram page, Ayton is seen getting excited over his new jersey.

Overjoyed at his new turn in his basketball career, he flaunted his Lakers’ jersey, saying:

“That’s what I am talking about. That’s that Purple and Gold Baby!”

Before giving this hyped expression, he sent a message to the Lakers’ fans, calling himself ‘Big Five.’ His video, in which he is seen sharing his happiness with a small boy, drew endearing reactions from the fans.

Deandre Ayton has played 398 NBA games, per the NBA’s data. He was a Phoenix Suns starter from 2018 to 2023. In 2022, reports came out about his disagreement with the Suns' coach, Monty Williams, after his court time was reduced to 17 minutes in Game 7 of the Playoffs. In 2023, he was traded to Portland. The 7 starter continued playing at the same position with Portland in the 2024-2025 season before becoming a free agent.
