Cricket Australia 's 2025-26 Men's Ashes series has shattered single-day ticket sales records, with more than 2,20,000 tickets sold during the opening day of pre-sale, nearly doubling the previous record of 1,11,741 tickets set during the 2017-18 summer pre-sale period.
The record was broken within hours of opening the priority pre-sale window, and was primarily driven by an exceptional demand for the Boxing Day match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and the first two days of the day-night Ashes Test at the Gabba.

Over 120,000 tickets were purchased for the international season before sales began in New South Wales and Western Australia, with the majority being for Ashes Tests. Only single tickets remain available for the opening two days of the Gabba day-night Test, while more than 55,000 seats have been secured for the Boxing Day event.
A technical issue with the vendor in Western Australia affected sales for matches including the series-opening West Test, but overall sales still exceeded 220,000.
"The record demand for tickets shows the excitement fans are feeling about the fantastic international season to come," said Cricket Australia chief executive Todd Greenberg. "To surpass our previous ticket sales record even before NSW and WA tickets had gone on sale is a remarkable achievement and reaffirms our position as Australia's national sport. I would urge those who haven't already bought their tickets to do so now as we expect allocations to be exhausted for some days. We can't wait for an unforgettable summer of international cricket," added the top executive.
The priority pre-sale period continues until midnight AEST on June 12, with remaining tickets going on general release on June 13.
The 2025-26 season will feature matches in every state and territory of Australia for the first time, including visits from South Africa and India's men's teams for white-ball matches preceding the Ashes Tests. India's tour includes an extensive eight-game, eight-city white-ball series across October and November. South Africa's schedule comprises three ODIs and three T20Is in northern Australia, marking the return of international cricket to Darwin after 17 years. The Proteas will also play in Cairns and Mackay in August.
Fans can still register for the priority pre-sale by visiting Cricket Australia's website. The staggered release of tickets saw high demand throughout the day as matches in the ACT, Queensland, and South Australia became available. NSW matches, including the SCG's Pink Test, went on sale at 3pm AEST, while Perth matches were available from 2pm local time.
The upcoming Ashes series is expected to draw significant overseas attendance, unlike the 2021-22 series when Covid-19 restricted travel for English supporters.
