Singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya is famous not just for his soulful voice and timeless songs, but also for speaking his mind without holding back. He often lands in controversy, like recently when Dua Lipa performed one of his songs from Shah Rukh Khan’s film Baadshaah during her concert.
Sharp Remarks on Salman Khan and Industry Equations
In a throwback interview with Shubankar Mishra, Abhijeet shared his thoughts about his professional relationships in the industry. While he acknowledged having some issues with Shah Rukh Khan, he still showed respect for the actor's stature. However, when it came to Salman Khan, Abhijeet was dismissive, suggesting that Salman wasn’t even worth discussing. His remarks reflected a rather critical and sharp attitude, especially towards the Tiger actor.
Controversy During Salman Khan’s Hit-And-Run Case
During the time when Salman's alleged hit-and-run case was making national headlines, Abhijeet Bhattacharya had stirred controversy by blaming those sleeping on the streets for the tragedy. Many perceived his comment as a show of support for Salman from within the industry. However, Abhijeet later denied backing the actor and clarified that his statement was about the dangers of sleeping on roads, not about defending anyone. He maintained his opinion but insisted it had nothing to do with supporting Salman Khan, despite having sung hit songs for him like Tan Tana Tan.
“My Songs, Not Theirs”: Abhijeet on Bollywood Stars
Abhijeet firmly believes that the hit songs he sang belong to him, not the stars they were picturised on. He shared that he never paid attention to which actor he was singing for, except in the case of Shah Rukh Khan, whom he considers the only star worthy of that focus. He revealed that he always wanted to sing exclusively for his Yes Boss actor.
He started lending his voice to Shah Rukh Khan’s films with Anjaam in 1994 and went on to deliver several chartbusters for the superstar. However, after the 2009 film Billu, the singer hasn’t collaborated with Shah Rukh on any new songs.
