Orry has got his followers amused this Halloween. After replicating Miley Cyrus’ Wrecking Ball, the social media sensation went on to replicate 11 looks of Aamir Khan from his popular films. From Orry Zameen Par, Lagaan: Orry Upon A Time in India, Orry Chahta Hai to Orry Hindustani – not only did Orry introduce a twist to the posters of Aamir’s famous films but also got the titles Orrified.
But more than just the fun aspect, there’s something more meaningful that Orry is targeting with this unique move of his. Talking about the same, Orry told us, “You know the other day I realised that people under 18 years of age are unaware of Aamir Khan’s movies. I reshot the poster of Taare Zameen Par with its original actor (Darsheel Safary). The film had released 17 years ago, so if you are 17 today you are only born when that movie came out. So, Gen Z and Gen Alpha which is my most prominent audience would not know many of these movies.”
Orry says that with his version of the reshoot, he is only trying to create awareness and buzz about Aamir and the notable work that the actor has given to the audience over the years. He continues saying, “I personally loved the film Ghajini. I wanted the younger audience to know about him and his work. And as per the analytics, I am happy, that I was able to generate the buzz and create interest among Gen Z and Gen Alpha by many folds. It has gone up since the time I did my post.”
While Orry is in awe of Aamir’s work, he’s the only Khan from Bollywood who he hasn’t met. He tells us, “I really adore him as an actor. He has done some amazing movies that have always had some sort of meaning and moral to them. He produces them, directs them and also acts in them… he is certainly a multi-talented dude.”
About executing the 11 different looks, Orry says that a lot went into planning and budgeting. “I was quoted 10 lakhs, but then I went my way and wrapped it up in 1.5 lakhs. The biggest challenge was to maintain the hairline calendar as each of these looks had different hairstyles… like a buzz cut for Ghajini to longer hair for the Mangal Pandey look. Then I had to do tattoos for Ghajini and wear a fat suit for Dangal. It was a lot of fun though.”
And the best part about doing the posters was the casting says Orry. While he got the original, Darsheel for Taare Zameen Par. For the other posters he had his actor friends posing with him. Lagaan has Orry with Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor. “Well, whenever I do casting, Janhvi will always be my first choice and Khushi will be my second and that is exactly what you see in that poster.”
On that note, ask Orry to recast for Dil Chahta Hai for the newer lot of audience and he is quick to replace Saif Ali Khan with Ibrahim Ali Khan and Preity Zinta with Shanaya Kapoor.
His personal favourite look from the lot is Ghajini and he’s quite surprised that his fans ad followers enjoyed seeing him in the Mangal Pandey look. He signs off saying, “They also loved the title Orry Hindustani and I am glad.”
