Movies are such a big part of Indian culture that every third child in a neighbourhood dreams of becoming a film star when he grows up. One such dream filled the eyes of a young Gwalior boy, who today is known as one of the most loved and bankable Bollywood stars Kartik Aaryan.
Born in a middle-class family on November 22, 1988, Kartik Aaryan wanted to be an actor from a very young age. He comes from a family of doctors, his father Dr Manish Tiwari is a pediatrician and his mother Dr. Mala Tiwari is a gynecologist. Even his sister Kritika Tiwai is a doctor. Kartik’s parents wanted him to be an Engineer and they did everything possible to make sure he got his degree in the very field.
“I always wanted him to become a doctor or an engineer. I spent 8–10 years pushing him towards engineering, hoping he would at least get that degree,” said Kartik’s mother during The Kapil Sharma Show.
‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ star Kartik Aaryan’s educational qualification
Kartik Aaryan studied at Kiddy's School and St. Paul's School in Gwalior. He was in class 11th when he started getting serious about his acting career.
Recalling the time of his board exams, his mother revealed how he constantly missed school. When Dr. Mala got to know about it, she tracked his footsteps and found that he spent his time in a video game parlor. Like a typical Indian mother, she knew what she had to do. “I was so angry that I wanted to hit him. Instead, I just took off my sandal and used that,” shared Kartik’s mother.
After his schooling, Kartik Aaryan moved to Mumbai for a B.Tech degree in Biotechnology from DY Patil College. However, the main intention of Kartik to move to Mumbai was not to study but to act. Her mother said she had to put in a lot of effort to turn him into an engineer. She even narrated how he wrote a movie’s story in his exam paper.
“I think he was shooting for ‘Aakash Vani’ around that time. He had bought a third-hand car. He would drive to work from DY Patil. I would sit next to him and make him study and used to tell him, ‘Beta, yeh important hai, yeh important hai,’ and then I would sit outside for three hours when he used to write his paper. When I would ask him what he wrote in the paper, he told me, ‘Main Aakash Vani ki story likh ke aayaa hoon,” said Dr. Mala, but Kartik corrected his mother and told everyone, “It was Punchnama 2’s story!”
Kartik dropped his engineering studies in between to pursue acting and later completed his studies.

But as they say, you can’t change what’s written in fate. Kartik’s dream came true when he bagged his debut movie ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama' through Facebook. From there he gave both hits and flops, but he never stopped. Right now he is garnering all love and attention with the release of his horror comedy-drama ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.’
