Gold rate today: Gold prices extended their decline on Wednesday, tracking global cues as investors turned cautious ahead of the US Federal Reserve's monetary policy announcement, scheduled for later in the day.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold futures for December delivery dropped by Rs 176, or 0.15%, to Rs 1,19,470 per 10 grams. This marks the fourth consecutive session of losses.
This pressure on the yellow metal also continued in the international market, the pressure on gold continued. On Comex, gold futures for December were trading lower by $15.9, or 0.4%, at $3,967.2 per ounce, also logging their fourth straight day of decline.
"Gold prices traded around $3,970 per ounce on Wednesday, as the attention turned to the Federal Reserve's (Fed) expected rate cut later in the day," Jigar Trivedi, Senior Research Analyst at Reliance Securities, said.
