Mysuru: As the much-anticipated IPL 2025 final approaches, excitement is at a fever pitch across Karnataka — especially in Mysuru, where Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fans are preparing for a historic clash against Punjab Kings.
Adding to the electric atmosphere, Basavaraj Basappa, a RCB supporter from Mysuru, has made a pledge: if RCB clinches their maiden IPL title, he will sponsor free holige meals at all 16 Indira Canteens across the city. Holige, a traditional sweet flatbread, holds special cultural significance in Karnataka — making it a fitting treat for a potential celebration. As a symbolic kick-off to this initiative, Basappa distributed free holige meals at Gun House Circle on Monday, turning the area into a hub of cheer and camaraderie.
Riding this wave of enthusiasm, local RCB supporters have urged chief minister Siddaramaiah to extend the holige celebration citywide — and even statewide —should RCB emerge victorious.
In another display of support, Chamaraja Constituency MLA Harishgowda, a staunch RCB fan himself, conducted special poojas at the historic Amrutheshwara Temple on Dewans Road. Along with fellow fans, he performed a Vijaya Durga Homa to invoke divine blessings for RCB's success. "RCB has a huge fan base. Though they reached the finals a few times, they didn't clinch the trophy. We're hopeful that this time will be different," Harishgowda said. There were a few fans who stickered their cars with RCB team logos.

How many Kannadigas in RCB team? BJP MLC
Mysuru: Former minister and BJP MLC CT Ravi on Monday questioned the RCB team fever in Karnataka, asking how many Kannadigas are in the RCB team.
He remarked that players play for any team if they are paid. "Sadly, our soldiers guarding the Indian border don't have this much publicity and fans," he rued. He said the IPL is all about money and asked residents not to give much importance to it as there is plenty of work to do for them.
