Minor kabaddi trainee found dead at Saifai Sports College

Kanpur: A 17-year-old kabaddi trainee at the Major Dhyan Chand Sports College, Saifai in Etawah district committed suicide on Friday. The police immediately secured the body and launched an investigation.

A student of ninth grade, was a hostel resident, and he hailed from Gorakhpur district. He joined the sports college on January 14, 2022 in the seventh grade.

On Friday, he participated in the morning practice at the stadium at 5 am with his fellow trainees. After returning to his room at 8 am, he informed his companions about visiting the bathroom at about 11:30 am. At around 12 noon, another student, found his body in a room. He immediately alerted others, bringing college officials and other players to the scene. The staff had to force entry into the room. Senior officials, including ADM Abhinav Ranjan Srivastava, SP Dehat Satyapal Singh, and SDM Kaushal, arrived to start their investigation.
