PSEB launches initiative to promote Punjabi language and moral values in schools

Mohali: The Punjab School Education Board has initiated unique steps to restore the sweetness of the Punjabi language and revive moral values. As part of this initiative, a discussion was held at the headquarters of the Punjab School Education Board, where the need to inspire students and youth through Punjab's glorious history and culture — using various media, including social media — was emphasised.

The board's chairman, Dr Amarpal Singh, in his address, said the legacy of the Gurus and Pirs in this land compels us to take firm steps toward refining the language and reviving moral values. Eminent writer, poet, and former professor Manjeet Indira stressed the importance of implementing the Punjabi language and moral values while also elevating children's intellectual level.

Dr Jaswinder Singh, vice-chancellor of Eternal University, Sri Baru Sahib, highlighted the board's credibility and contributions in the field of education, emphasising the need to embrace change while maintaining historical pride. During the event, Bal Mukand Sharma, chairman of the Punjab State Food Commission, said while adapting to social changes, preserving fundamental values is a crucial responsibility today.

Dr Jasvir Singh, principal of Khalsa College, Sri Anandpur Sahib, described the Punjabi language and moral values as two sides of the same coin and shared how his college teaches ethics as a subject.
