Kota: A home guard part of the patrolling squad of mining department was abducted and beaten up by the driver of a truck, which had no number plate and was loaded with gravel, on NH-27 in Kota during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.
Mining department's senior foreman Gangadhar Meena informed media that the patrolling squad stopped the truck around 1:30am at night and home guard Parampal Singh mounted the vehicle, but the driver sped away with Singh inside the vehicle.
The squad informed police control room and chased the truck for about 20 km, but a car escorting the truck prevented them from overtaking. During this, the truck driver beat up the home guard and later abandoned him on the roadside in Udhyog Nagar police station area, Meena said.
Based on the foreman's report, police lodged a case against the unidentified driver and teams have been formed to find him, circle inspector at Udhyog Nagar police station Jitendra Singh said. tnn
