ED raids 13 sites in Vasai-Virar over illegal buildings on sewage treatment land

MUMBAI: The Enforcement Directorate ( ED ) on Wednesday conducted searches at 13 locations within Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC) limits as part of a money laundering probe into the illegal construction of 41 mixed-use buildings on 60 acres of civic land earmarked for sewage treatment and dumping grounds.

The implicated developers and their local associates erected these structures through document forgery, creating fraudulent approval papers and bogus sale agreements, thereby deceiving vulnerable and economically disadvantaged residents.
