Udaipur: Kanera police station in Chittorgarh, with help of the district special team, Saturday seized 10 quintals and 12 kg of poppy husk packed in 52 plastic bags from a pickup truck. The seized drugs are valued at approximately Rs 1.5 crore.
SP Sudhir Joshi said ASP Sarita Singh directed the operation under supervision of Nimbahera DSP Badri Lal Rao. The team set up a barricade on the road from Kanera to Vijaypura and spotted a car coming at high speed with two individuals inside. When signalled to stop, the driver broke through the barricade and sped away. Simultaneously, the driver of a following pickup truck attempted to flee at high speed. Police deployed a stop stick, causing the truck's tyre to burst.
Two individuals in the pickup managed to escape into the forest under the cover of darkness. Upon searching the vehicle, 10 quintals and 12 kg of poppy husk was found in 52 plastic bags. Cases have been registered against the unidentified individuals in the car and the truck, with a search on to find them, the SP said. tnn
