Prayagraj: Six officials belonging to higher judicial services (HJS) were sworn in as judges of the Allahabad High Court on Friday.

The oath was administered by Allahabad High Court Chief Justice Arun Bhansali.

Those who took oath were Jitendra Kumar Sinha, Anil Kumar-X, Sandeep Jain, Avnish Saxena, Madan Pal Singh and Harvir Singh.

The Supreme Court collegium had recommended the names of 8 judicial officers for appointment as judges of the Allahabad High Court earlier this month. Barring two, the central govt had cleared the names of six.

With this, the strength of judges at Allahabad HC has risen to 88, including the Chief Justice, against the sanctioned strength of 160.

Earlier this month, Justice Yashwant Verma, Justice Arindam Sinha and Justice Chandra Dhari Singh took oath as the judges of the Allahabad High Court upon notification for their transfers by the central govt.
