Producer Anand Pandit Says 'Box Office Success Is Not Just About Money' - EXCL

Veteran film producer Anand Pandit recently opened up about the challenges and goals of Bollywood, including balancing art and profit in a way that resonates with audiences. Known for his thoughtful approach to filmmaking, Pandit shared his views with Zoom on everything from creating powerful stories to managing rising production costs.

We are still waiting on the script,” he shared with Zoom. In today’s film industry, box office success remains a top goal. But for Pandit, it’s not about following a specific formula. He explains, “There is no formula for box office success, but I believe in wholesome entertainment. Content must be strong enough to compel people to come to the theaters.” Pandit believes that creativity and commercial success should go hand in hand. He shared his thoughts on maintaining this balance, saying, “Commerce and creativity have to go hand in hand. Box office success is not just about money, it’s about gaining confidence in your creativity.” ALSO READ: As Bollywood grows, production costs are rising, and Pandit believes this trend is rooted in demand. “It’s all about demand and supply. If someone is in demand, they will naturally command a higher price. If you can afford it, go for it,” he stated. Pandit suggests that higher costs are a natural part of an evolving industry.The producer recognises that the Indian film industry is constantly evolving, even though success remains unpredictable. “The Indian film industry is evolving, but there’s no set mantra for success. You just have to keep trying,” he says. For him, constant effort and adaptability are key in such a dynamic field.Every film journey comes with its own challenges, and Pandit is no stranger to them. When asked how he handles obstacles, he replied, “When I face a roadblock, I try to figure out my own way to overcome it. It’s all about applying your wisdom and experience.”Despite his many accomplishments, Pandit still has one dream he would love to achieve. “My dream project is to make a three-part film with Mr. Amitabh Bachchan. That would be a dream come true,” he shared.
