Jos Buttler penned a heartfelt post on Instagram to thank Rajasthan Royals for their trust in the player as the England opener wasn't retained by the IPL franchise for IPL 2025. Buttler has been with Rajasthan since 2018 and played some of the most memorable knocks for the franchise over the course of the last seven years. Rajasthan announced their all six retentions as they managed to get hold of their core part ahead of the IPL 2025. Captain Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal were expected to be of the first names on the list and they will each receive 18 crore each. Riyan Parag rose to prominence for Rajasthan last season and the franchise repaid their faith by retaining him for a whopping 14 crore alongside Dhruv Jurel for the same amount. Shimron Hetmyer is the sole foreign player who has been retained for 11 crore while uncapped Indian fast bowler Sandeep Sharma has also found his name on the retention list.
Buttler wrote on Instagram, “If it turns out that this is the end, thank you @rajasthanroyals and everyone involved with the franchise for 7 incredible seasons together. 2018 kickstarted the best years of my cricketing career and many of my most cherished memories have come in a Pink shirt over the last 6 years. Thank you for welcoming me and my family with open arms. Could write so much more but let’s leave it there.” The England white ball captain has had his injury issues in the recent past and that could be the reason why Rajasthan preferred other retention. The 34 year old is still one of the most explosive batsmen in the T20 format and should he register for the IPL 2025 auction he is expected to fetch a high price. Rajasthan Royals full retention list Sanju Samson (Rs. 18 crore) Yashasvi Jaiswal (Rs. 18 crore) Riyan Parag (Rs. 14 crore) Dhruv Jurel (Rs. 14 crore) Shimron Hetmyer (Rs. 11 crore) Sandeep Sharma (Rs. 4 crore).
