Armaan Bhatia created history in the by winning the first-ever Pro Men's Singles title on Sunday (October 27) at the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association Stadium (DLTA) after a dramatic final against the United States of America's (USA) Dusty Boyer. The 25-year-old was in a spot of bother after losing the first set 11-8. However, Armaan made a strong comeback by holding his nerve and winning the second set 11-9 to take the game into the decider. However, it looked like that match slipped away from the star Indian pickler in the third set after he went 8-0 down. With Boyer just three points away from the title, to win 11 points in a row and win the trophy.
Armaan Bhatia Reacts To Dramatic Victory In a post-match chat with Pickleball Now, Armaan admitted that he had his back against the wall and expressed gratitude to his friends, family, and team for supporting him when he was down in the game. "No, it was a great match. Dusty played really well. There was a point where I felt that I had my back against the wall. But I had my team, I had my friends, I had my family who were supporting me. They kept believing in me and that just gave me so much belief in myself. And we got through it," said Armaan. "I was just telling myself to stay in it, to stay point by point. I could hear Sam telling me that it's every point by itself, go through every point. At the end of the day, we got through it," Armaan added. Armaan revealed that the second set was the turning point of the game and he gained confidence after some points went his way. "In the second set, when we got in a few points of my liking, is when we realised that yes, we could get on it," Armaan further added.Armana is on the cusp of winning a historic triple crown and will play the Men's and mixed double finals later in the evening. He could become only the sixth player to win three titles at a single event."Oh, I mean, you just told me that now, I didn't know about it before this. So, are you looking forward to the Triple Crown, because everyone here is. I'm hoping to get one, but it's each match by itself," Armaan stated. Armaan also expressed his love for the crowd, who have come to support him and other picklers in India's biggest pickleball event. "No, I mean, I love this crowd. I love everyone who's been over here and stayed out to support me. And thank you so much for being there. And hope to see you again," Armaan said.
