Boston Police launched an investigation after a shooting incident in Charlestown Tuesday afternoon left a man with multiple gunshot wounds. At around 4:03 p.m., police were called to reports of shooting in the vicinity of 20 Polk Street. They found ballistic evidence, but no immediate casualty. According to reports, the man, who was shot many times, drove himself to a neighboring hospital outside of Boston before being sent to a trauma center in Boston. Authorities verified that his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Evidence Found at SceneOfficers found two cars with broken windows and evidence indications on them when they arrived at the site. Witnesses said that several bullets were fired; one neighbor estimated that at least fifty shots were fired. “I heard multiple gunshots—at least 50 rounds. I came out and saw the black and white cars shot up,” said a resident who requested anonymity. The police investigation continued as they combed the scene for clues but have not yet made any arrests. Previous Incident in CharlestownThe gunshot on Tuesday is the most recent incident of gun violence in the Charlestown region. In a different event that happened in July, someone was shot during a fight close to O'Brien Court and Walford Way. Around 3:50 p.m., the event also resulted in a significant police presence, with officers inspecting two cars—a white sedan and an orange hatchback—that seemed to have been engaged in a collision. As detectives collected clues, the location was encircled by yellow crime tape and evidence markers. Ongoing Investigation, Suspect Remains at LargeNo suspects had been taken into custody in relation to Tuesday's shooting as of Wednesday. To help identify the culprits, authorities asked anyone with knowledge to come forward. As authorities attempt to improve local safety and stop more violence, the incident is still being investigated. Updates regarding suspects and possible motives for the shootings in both cases have not yet been released by the Boston Police Department.
