Agatha All Along Finale EXPLAINED: MCU Future Of Power-Stealing Witch And Billy Maximoff Is Set Up

The Marvel spinoff series, Agatha All Along, concluded this week with a two-part ending. The Disney+ Hotstar series, revolving around Agatha Harkness, played by Kathryn Hahn, featured plenty of spooky delights when it was first introduced. But what does the ending indicate for the witch, who must rely on stealing power from others? Agatha is now also bound with Billy Maximoff (Joe Locke), aka William Kaplan, who has been on a quest to find his brother Tommy. Here's what the final two episodes tell us. SPOILERS ahead! Do not read if you haven't caught up with all the episodes.

Agatha and Rio Vidal face offIn the seventh episode, it was revealed that Aubrey Plaza's Rio was, in fact, Death. She appeared on the Witches' Road to collect dead bodies, and the latest one she was after is Billy Maximoff, who was reincarnated into Eastview teenager William Kaplan's body. Agatha fends her off from claiming Billy; this leads to her backstory featuring her son Nicholas Scratch. At his birth, Agatha pleads with Rio to let him live, but Death eventually comes for him a few years later.

In the final trial, Agatha helps Billy find a soul for his brother Tommy. However, she comes to face Death, who wants to take someone. Billy, in his Wiccan superhero costume, returns to help Agatha against Rio, but she sacrifices herself for him. The two share a kiss, after which, in episode eight, Agatha dies, or does she? ALSO READ: Real creator of the witches' roadBilly, who has a better sense of his purpose since the start of the series, comes to a stunning realisation that echoes WandaVision. Like his mother Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen), who created the world around her in grief for Vision, he orchestrated up the Witches' Road for Agatha and the other coven members, Jennifer Kale (Sasheer Zamata), Alice Wu-Gulliver (Ali Ahn), Lilia Calderu (Patti LuPone), and Sharon Davis (Debra Jo Rupp). The teenager figures it out while he's back in his bedroom, understanding that he conjured up the whole scenario with his own magic.

Moreover, the big twist of the show is that the Witches' Road never existed at all. It was a con created all those centuries ago by Agatha to steal power from the rest of the witches. She had her son Nicholas sing the road ballad to lure in potential witches. Billy learns about this and more as Agatha appears before him as a ghost, ready to help him find his twin Tommy. The series ends with the duo setting off to find him. There are also strong rumours of a solo Wiccan spinoff series, as the teenage superhero later joins the Young Avengers.
