While most fans are excited by the , there has been some controversy regarding pricing for the new console and games.

Not only is the 2 more expensive than the original Switch at launch, but first-party games are being sold for as much as £74.99 by retailers such as Amazon and Argos.

Likewise, Nintendo Switch 2 Enhanced games like Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom require an upgrade fee, while tech demo Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour isn't a free download like everybody assumed.

Fortunately, however, there is some good news regarding pricing, because has announced a series of free upgrades for a selection of first-party Switch games.

According to a post on the Nintendo website, ARMS, Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain, Captain Toad Treasure Tracker, Clubhouse Games and Game Builder Garage will all receive upgrades.

That's on top of high-profile releases such as New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, Pokemon Violet and Scarlet, as well as Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury.

Finally, Super Mario Odyssey, Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom and Link's Awakening will also receive a boost.

Upgrades include things like HDR support, improved image quality and superior frame-rates.

ARMS, for example, adds visuals that are "optimised for the Nintendo Switch 2 display and high-resolution TVs for improved image quality", as well as smoother movement even when playing with 3 or more players and HDR support.

Big Brain Academy lets up to four users play in Party Mode, and the ability to share locally and online via GameChat.

GameShare support is also available for Captain Toad, Clubhouse Games, Super Mario 3D World and Mario Odyssey.

Elsewhere, Game Builder Garage adds support for Switch 2 JoyCon mouse controls, which might make designing games that little bit easier.

According to Nintendo, all of the updates will be available when the console launches on June 5.

Hopefully we'll get some additional upgrades for third-party games at a later date.
