A pretty fisherman's cottage in a seaside town is on the market for just £235,000 - but it won't suit all . The aptly-named Dolls House in Portleven is squeezed over two storeys between two more traditional builds near the Lizard Peninsula in south Cornwall, and offers beautiful views of the shoreline, which lies just a short walk from its entrance. But, in what could be considered a unique draw for some and a dealbreaker for others, the tiny property clocks in at around 3 feet wide in some areas, with its larger ground floor spanning just 180-square-foot.
The Dolls House was bought for £127,500 in 2006 and last changed hands for just shy of £200,000 in 2020 - with the current owners capitalising on its niche appeal by renting it out as . The home's listing describes it as a "charming" and "quirky" design that "truly embodies the essence of coastal living", with a small patio and seating area at its front.
Thanks to publicity of its uniquely narrow structure, the house has provoked market interest, with estate agent Tom Reed, of the Mather Partnership, confirming it had attracted a "fantastic" amount of attention after it was put on sale earlier this year.
"You really wouldn't be able to host a family of four here," he admitted to the BBC, adding that its picturesque location nonetheless made the property's pricetag a "sensible" one.
The cost also pales in comparison to other homes in Porthleven, the most southerly port in the UK, which average £355,000.
Despite its cramped living conditions, the terraced cottage appears to have everything a single inhabitant could need - including a cosy bedroom and dresser, living room just wide enough for an armchair, and a packed bathroom and kitchen.
"The location in Porthlevel is ideal, with its vibrant community, local shops and delightful eateries just a stone's throw away," the Mather Partnership added.
"With a gorgeous, traditional working harbour and beach, this is a super and much sought after location."
The Doll's House is ready to be bought right away, with no onward chain, and is exempt from council tax - making it a real find, bizarre alleyway location to boot.
