Passengers say they are "stuck" in airport and are facing "complete silence" from Ryanair following overnight delays. Travellers shared images of people lying on the airport floor and complained they hadn't been provided drinking water, despite other airlines reportedly providing accommodation for disruptions.
One passenger told The Express they couldn't get through to the airline following the overnight delay, and fears had started to rise about a further postponement. They said: "Ryanair travel chaos in Rhodes. Flight's been overnight delayed, and now there's rumours people won't get a flight until tomorrow. Other airlines were disrupted too but accommodation etc was provided for them. Complete silence from Ryanair - I have been on hold with them for 10 minutes and I can't get through."
Another passenger, Josh Bronlin, shared an image of passengers sprawled on the airport floor lying on their luggage as they waited for information.
Writing in French, he said on X: " Rhodes-Marseille flight on May 16 at 9:30 p.m. cancelled, no information or assistance from the airline, no drinking water. We are stuck at the airport. Our luggage has been returned to us."
A post on X claimed that strong winds were causing disruption for incoming and outbound flights in Rhodes.
According to Greece's , Hellenic National Meteorological Service (HNMS), a northeasterly moving weather system from the coast of Tunisia was expected to cause a "deterioration of weather" from Thursday evening until the early hours of Saturday.
It predicted "locally heavy rain and thunderstorms in western, central and northern Greece as well as with very strong winds in eastern and southern Greece".
The island of Rhodes is in southeastern Greece in the Aegean Sea, sitting northeast of Crete and southeast of Athens, close to the coast of Turkey.
The Express has contacted Ryanair for comment.
