Prince William is well known for being a passionate football supporter, regularly seen cheering on Aston Villa at Villa Park. However, a recent frank admission may have ruffled feathers with his close friend David Beckham. During a lighthearted interview withThe Sun, the future monarch took part in a spin-off of the popular 'Football Legends - Head 2 Head' game, tackling some challenging football dilemmas.
When pressed to select between Zinedine Zidane and England icon Beckham for a penalty shoot-out - having previously celebrated Air Ambulance heroes alongside the former footballer last October - William pulled a face and admitted: "This gonna hurt. Becks, I think - just... I think Becks might kill me if I don't say him." Yet when comparing Cristiano Ronaldo to the ex-England and Manchester United star, the prince showed no such hesitation in his choice.
The revelation follows Beckham discussing his Royal ties and how he handled an approach from Prince William. The former Three Lions skipper has been spotted at several prominent occasions with both the Prince of Wales and King Charles in recent months.
The 49-year-old former England captain was recently named an ambassador for the King's Foundation and also accompanied Prince William to unveil the London Air Ambulance's new helicopters.
During an appearance at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Beckham was questioned about his Royal connections and recent work alongside the monarchy.
He became visibly moved and confessed he always gets "emotional talking about anything that I do with our Royal Family".
Discussing William, Beckham revealed he's partnered with the Prince "whenever he's asked me to get involved". He said: "To be involved in that has always been a 'yes' for me.
Whenever the Prince of Wales sends me a message and says 'I need you to do this' or 'be there', it's always a 'yes'."
Regarding his position with Charles' King's Foundation, he lauded the monarch as an extraordinary individual and disclosed his mother, Sandra, was moved to tears when he informed her he'd been invited to become an ambassador for the charitable organisation.
