When relocating to a new property, you'd typically anticipate the former residents to have cleared out all their possessions before your arrival.

Occasionally, they might agree to leave behind certain appliances they no longer require, or arrange to collect remaining items at a later stage, though such situations are uncommon.

However, one woman received the shock of her life upon collecting the keys to her new dwelling, as she unlocked the front door to discover something unexpected awaiting her inside.

Louren Wilson shared a TikTok video capturing herself opening her new front door for the first time, inadvertently recording the astonishing moment she witnessed what lay within.

In the footage, Louren enters the hallway of her new residence and freezes as the camera reveals a lengthy corridor with a baby gate positioned at one end.

Beyond the barrier, however, was what caused Louren to halt completely - a dog.

The small white canine was wagging its tail enthusiastically, but Louren was bewildered by the sight before her. She feared the owners had deserted the unfortunate animal upon moving out, leaving her uncertain about how to proceed.

She captioned her video: "When there's a full a** dog in your new house."

Several water bottles and an unopened pack of toilet rolls were also scattered across the hallway floor, appearing as peculiar items for the previous homeowner to have abandoned.

WARNING: The below TikTok video contains strong language.

The online community was appalled to hear that the previous homeowners appeared to have left their dog behind, sparking a debate on whether Louren should take responsibility for the pet.

One commenter expressed their distress: "I suddenly felt so sad for the dog, thinking it'd been abandoned."

Another urged action: "Report the previous owner of the house... that's insane. Poor dog, his pack abandoned him."

However, Louren set the record straight in a subsequent comment, explaining that the original owners had not forsaken their canine companion. Due to logistical issues, they were delayed in retrieving their pet and possessions.

She explained the situation: "We were told we were good to move into the house, we got the deed, and we headed over (it was about 6pm when we arrived), and this is our first opening the door."

Clarifying further, she added: "The previous owners thought they could get everything in one trip, but they couldn't (we had no idea), so we showed up, and their dog was still there."

Concluding the tale, she recounted: "So we called the realtor, he called them, and we went to dinner. By 8:30, we got another text saying everything was gone and they had gotten their dog."
