Naomi Osaka reveals how her daughter made her rush home from Wimbledon

Naomi Osaka admitted she wanted to win her second round match at Wimbledon in time to be home to celebrate her daughter's birthday. And Osaka did her best to achieve her aim, after brushing aside the challenge Czech Katerina Siniakova 6-3, 6-2.

The triumph saw the former world No.1 book a place in the third round for the first time in seven years.

And it meant the four-time Grand Slam winner could fulfil her promise of getting back to see daughter Shai on her second birthday, before she went to bed.

Osaka, who also claimed back-to-back wins at grass-court major for just the third time in her career, said: "I definitely thought about Shai's birthday while I was playing my match.

"I was really trying to be focused. I was hoping to be back by 7.45pm, so I don't know why I'm doing these really long answers to your guys' questions.

"I woke up on the morning of the match and kind of laid in bed with her, and I felt really grateful to be living the life that I'm living, because I get to travel with her. It really is a blessing for me."
