Migrant camp mayhem on billionaires' row as first tent returns just one day after eviction

A tent appeared on Park Lane, one of London's poshest streets, just a day after the migrants who took up residence there were evicted.

The tent, put up on the road known colloquially as 'billionaire's row', has been pictured just 24 hours after a group of people were evicted from the site. Express.co.uk visited the site alongside Tory shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp earlier this week, where they were confronted by migrants from Romania and Bulgaria.

Video shows Mr Philp and an Express reporter being yelled at by one of the migrants, accusing them of being racist. The man screams: "Racist, racist, no respect!"

The top Tory replies: "I don't know what you're talking about." The angry exchange comes after another migrant at the camp told another reporter to "f*** off" when asked why she was still at the camp despite a court ordering the migrants to be removed.

Mr Philp joined the Express at the camp to raise concerns about plans to water down police powers to clear illegal migrant camps. He told the publication: "What concerns me is the Government are about to change the law - they're about to repeal legislation that gives the police powers to move people on, and the Government, Angela Rayner, is going to repeal that legislation imminently without putting in any replacement legislation."

A Westminster City Council spokesperson said earlier this week after the last encampment was removed: "We're pleased that TfL has been able to clear the latest encampment on Park Lane.

"Council officers were on hand to support, removing waste and pointing those displaced to appropriate services.

"We've always said that the central reservation of Park Lane is not a safe place for anybody to live, and the anti-social behaviour associated with this encampment was unacceptable.

"This is the third such clearance in the last 12 months, and we share local people's impatience for a long-term solution to the persistent issues at this site. TFL have committed to working with us to achieve this."

Express.co.uk has approached Westminster City Council and TfL regarding the erection of the latest tent.
