King Charles issues heartbreaking statement after 'dreadful attack'

and Queen Camilla have released a statement saying they are "saddened" after a car was driven into a crowd of festivalgoers in Vancouver, Canada. The incident happened shortly after 8pm local time on Saturday, with at least nine people killed so far.

The suspect, a 30-year-old man from Vancouver, is in custody at this time. The incident is not believed to be an act of terrorism. King Charles has released a statement today on behalf of himself and his wife.

The King said: "Both my wife and I were profoundly saddened to learn of the dreadful attack and utterly tragic loss of life in Vancouver, which took place as the Filipino community came together to mark the celebration of one of their most special festivals.

"Our hearts and prayers go out to all those whose lives have been shattered by such a desperate tragedy and we send our deepest possible sympathy at a most agonizing time for so many in Canada."
