US vice president JD Vance refused to give a straight answer to a simple question when asked by Fox News journalist Lara Trump what his plans for the future are. Lara questioned whether Vance sees himself as a future president, taking over Donald Trump's job during the next presidential election in 2028. She asked: "A lot of people think that you will be running for president in 2028, can we expect that?"
Vance wouldn't give a simple yes or no answer, instead replying: "I just think that... I don't like thinking about it because I like thinking about the job that I have right now. And if we do a good job in 2025 and 2026, then we can talk about the politics in 2027. But I really think the American people are so fed up with folks who are already running for the next job seven months into the current one."
He added: "There are a lot of great people, I think if I do end up running it's not going to be given to me either on the Republican side or on the national side.
"So I'm just going to keep on working hard, I think this is the most important job that I've ever had, it may be the most important job I ever have outside of being a father to those three beautiful kids. So I'm gonna try to do my best job and I think if I do that, the politics will figure itself out."
Viewers were divided in the comments section, with plenty thinking that Donald Trump will defy convention and run for a third term in 2028. But others expected a blow for the president if Vance is set to take his place instead, ruling out another term for Trump.

One joked: "Bro said he's not thinking about 2028 while already measuring the Oval Office curtains."
Another added: "So the answer is yes?" while a third echoed: "Silly question and insincere answer. Of course everybody is expecting that. He's been rehearsing and sort of campaigning for it every day."
