Emmerdale has hinted at trouble brewing for Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) and Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) following a disastrous illegal boxing match.
In the recent episodes of the ITV soap, Billy admitted his participation in unlawful boxing after suspecting that promoter Jade had abducted Clemmie and Lucas.
In a state of panic, financially troubled Billy revealed to Dawn about his recent brawl with Ross Barton (Michael Parr), leading to them being compelled to participate in a rematch.
Unexpectedly, Dawn suggested to Billy and Ross that they should engage in the fight to get rid of Jade and make it appear authentic - with Ross emerging as the victor.
During Thursday's (November 7) visit to the village, stern promoter Jade (Twinnie-Lee Moore) insisted that the bare-knuckle fight be held in the barn at Butler's Farm, reports .
Dawn encouraged Billy to adhere to their strategy and let Ross win the fight but Jade had other ideas and proposed a bonus to Billy if he put on a good show.
As the fight commenced, Ross provided the entertainment but it was Billy who seemed to have the advantage.
Dawn observed with a worried look but when Ross began to dominate the fight, Billy rose from the floor instead of accepting defeat.
Chaos soon erupted when John Sugden (portrayed by Oliver Farnworth) raced into the barn, warning Aaron (Danny Miller) and Mack (Lawrence Robb) of the imminent arrival of the police.
Jade quickly called an end to the underground fight, ushering her crew to hastily pack up and evacuate the premises.
Pandemonium ensued when a couple of the thugs couldn't find their concealed cash stash. Aaron bravely tried to stop one from absconding but ended up receiving a forceful punch and collapsed onto the barn floor, letting out a cry.
A police officer promptly requested an ambulance while John jumped to offer aid to the fallen Aaron, with Mack looking on in a state of panic and distress.
At the same time, Dawn and Billy made their escape, although Dawn was seething with annoyance at Billy for deviating from their planned strategy during the brawl. Despite his regrets and apologies, Dawn stomped off leaving her husband alone.
Back at home, tensions rose further when Dawn confessed to pawning her wedding ring to back Ross in the fight, hoping for a substantial windfall.
But with Billy's unplanned actions causing them to lose everything, despite his vows to retrieve the ring, Dawn cast doubt on their future together with her biting words: "Do what you want," she snapped. "Get it back, don't get it back. But right now, I don't see myself wearing it again."
The turmoil has left viewers questioning the stability of Billy and Dawn's marriage. Gossip about whether Dawn will rekindle her past with Ross is rife among Emmerdale fans.
One speculative fan took to social media platform X, querying: "#Emmerdale does Dawn still fancy Ross? ".
Another voiced their prediction: "Dawn and Ross gonna sleep together soon then #Emmerdale."
A third viewer speculated, saying: "Is Billy going to get badly injured? Also Ross has a connection to Dawn. I sense things aren't going go to Dawn plan. #Emmerdale."
Nonetheless, a different enthusiast advised Billy on a drastic course of action, as they expressed: "Billy should leave dawn. Say I will be there for the kids but not her. She is hard work! #Emmerdale."
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm.
