A man has died after a small plane crash-landed on a runway in Yorkshire.
North Yorkshire Police rushed ot the scene at Sherburn Aero Club in Elmet just before 1pm on Sunday.
A man in his 70s from the Leeds area died at the scene. He is believed to have been the only person on the aircraft.
A statement said: "Just before 1pm today, we were called to reports of a light aircraft crash at Sherburn Aero Club.
"It was reported that a small plane had crash landed on the runway.
"North Yorkshire Police attended along with other emergency services.
"Sadly, a man in his 70s from the Leeds area, who is believed to be the sole occupant, was pronounced dead.
"His family is currently being supported by specially-trained officers and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time."
