There seems to be an abundance of British whodunnit series out there for viewers to enjoy. However, if you're looking for something a little different, you can now watch The Gathering on Netflix. The show, from the production company also behind the BBC's Line of Duty, boasts an impressive cast and has been labelled as a "fantastic six-part drama series." Created by Helen Walsh, The Gathering is set within a very modern and realistic setting in Liverpool, and despite being well-received at the time that it aired on Channel 4 in 2024, The Gathering did not come back for a second season.
On IMDb, the synopsis teases: "The violent attack on a teenage girl in a tidal islet in which group of teenagers from disparate backgrounds, each of whom could have committed the crime, along with their parents."

On IMDb, one user left plenty of praise and said: "When I saw a trailer for this, I thought it probably is a bit too teenagey for me. But I gave it a go anyway. And once started it quickly became binge worthy.
"Starting by looking at characters in the sports world, it quickly developed into other life problems as well. The writing allows you to love and hate certain characters and also tries to express why not to judge a book by its cover. Some brilliant acting performances and the best channel 4 drama in a good while."
A second also commented: "Absolutely fantastic six part drama series, really strong acting by the entire cast, some of whom have very little experience in tv or films, Eva Morgan as Kelly and Sonny Walker as Adam absolutely shine in their gritty roles."
A third also chimed in: "I came across this show that I found to be incredibly gripping and entertaining. The performances from the fresh, young cast were truly impressive."
A fourth person also said: "Loved the gathering, watched season 1 in one go as I couldn't stop. Gutted to hear there won't be a season 2 as it was really good! Hopefully Channel 4 will have a change of heart."
The Gathering is now available to stream on Netflix.
