President Donald Trump gave a worrying response when a reporter asked him if he still trusted Vladimir Putin during a press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"I will let you know in about a month from now", replied Trump.
During Trump's hour-long speech at the UN General Assembly on Tuesday, he targeted Russian leader Vladimir Putin for his "bad leadership", issuing fresh threats of "powerful tariffs" on Moscow.

He said Russia's war in Ukraine is "making them look bad" because it was "supposed to be a little skirmish".
"It shows you what leadership is, what bad leadership can do to a country. The only question now is how many lives will be needlessly lost on both sides," he added, alleging that Russian forces have been killing between 5,000 and 7,000 young soldiers "on both sides every single week".
Trump also said that he believes Ukraine can win the war and take back all the lost territory. He made the remarks after meeting with Zelensky.
The remarks are a shift from his earlier stance that Zelensky "doesn't have the cards", arguing that time is not on Ukraine's side and that Russia is winning the war. He also urged Zelensky to make territorial concessions to Russia to reach a deal that would end the four-year-old conflict.
"After getting to know and fully understand the Ukraine/Russia Military and Economic situation and, after seeing the Economic trouble it is causing Russia, I think Ukraine, with the support of the European Union, is in a position to fight and WIN all of Ukraine back in its original form," Donald Trump wrote on his Truth Social account shortly after meeting Zelensky.
He added that "with time, patience, and the financial support of Europe and, in particular, NATO, the original Borders from where this War started, is very much an option." Trump also called Russia's military "a paper tiger" and said that Russians do not fully know the extent of the economic destruction that Putin has caused.
"Putin and Russia are in BIG Economic trouble, and this is the time for Ukraine to act. We will continue to supply weapons to NATO for NATO to do what they want with them," Trump added.
Donald Trump met with Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the 80th UN General Assembly session. The meeting was their fourth since Trump returned to office in January and comes amid rising tensions between NATO and Moscow over Russian aerial incursions into allied countries as the U.S push to broker peace in Ukraine has stalled.
"We have great respect for the fight Ukraine is putting up. It is pretty amazing," Trump told reporters. "We have a lot of meetings scheduled today, going pretty late into the night, but this is an important one."
