Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard's rapid rise up the rankings has caused a stir among the world's best players.

The 21-year-old stands 6ft8 tall and, according to the French media, he already weighs 102kg. His powerful frame has helped him top the ATP's leaderboard for serve rating.

Carlos Alcaraz has been and has now named the Frenchman the best server on tour.

Mpetshi Perricard burst onto the scene in impression fashion this season. He started the year ranked outside of the top 200 and now sits at a career-high of No. 31.

The 21-year-old won his first career title as a wildcard at the Lyon Open in May. He then reached the second week of Wimbledon after getting into the draw as a lucky loser. And he recently lifted his first trophy at ATP 500 level, winning the Swiss Indoors.

His breakthrough has caught the attention of the top players, with Alcaraz recently admitting he was keeping an eye on Mpetshi Perricard's result in Basel. And Medvedev has become the latest Grand Slam champion to pile the praise on the French player.

"I think he could be a top-10 player. He's not far. He's 40, 30 now with his title. I don't know where he is now," the world No. 5 said.

After being informed that Mpetshi Perricard now sat at No. 31 in the world, the former US Open champion continued: "Well, you can reach the top 10. It's far, not far. We never know, but he could."

However, Medvedev believes a Grand Slam title will be a toughet nut to crack. "As for a Grand Slam, it won't be easy for him," he added.

"Even in Basel he had four deciders, so it's a five-setter in Grand Slam. He could win. And from the baseline, he plays quite well. Even for 102 kilos he plays really well. It might be more difficult for him than others. He plays well."

But he knows where he stands when it comes to rating Mpetshi Perricard's giant serve. "Is he the best server on the tour? Yes, he might [be]," Medvedev declared.

"And maybe when he comes back, we can ask him about this. I saw stats that his second-serve ball is quite fast, so yeah, I think he could do it."

The 21-year-old . Under the ATP's official Infosys statistics, Mpetshi Perricard has a serve rating of 300.1 - the highest on the tour this year, overtaking Alexander Zverev's figure of 298.3.

Medvedev isn't the only one who has been impressed by the two-time title winner. Asked whether Mpetshi Perricard had the best serve on the circuit, Alcaraz recently said: "Without a doubt.

"Yeah, I mean, the way he serves is unbelievable. I saw the stats in the final."
